Trust in the truth

Genesis 1:27

So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

I am part Armenian, Irish, Mexican, German, Swedish, Yugoslavian, and who knows what else. A colorfully array of ethnicities. Like most Americans today.

I grew up in SoCal a melting pot of ethnicities. The first time I saw/experienced hate/racism was when I was in junior high, my step mothers truck tires were slashed and a swastika was spray painted on our garage door. Hate towards Gays.

Later I was treated hatefully by Asians and Whites that thought I was Mexican, by Mexicans because they knew I was Caucasian, and by Blacks that thought I shouldn’t have the right to be friends with with “their” Black men that Id been friends with most of my life because I am White. REALLY!?!?!

What I’m trying to say is racists come in all…

My Nightmare

Trust in the truth

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.

As a child I had this recurring dream that I was at a mall with my mother when suddenly the ground morphed into a tornado and she was ripped away from me while we still tried reaching for one other.  There was chaos everywhere but somehow I was safe from being sucked down with her. I remember always feeling so frightened and calling out and crying for her as id wake.

Its kind of odd in hindsight how this dream became a Metaphor for my life.

A child’s worst nightmare is to lose there parents and as a parent it is your worst nightmare to lose your children.

The older I’ve become the more she has been pulled further and further away from me (by her own choices). She has caused so much chaos and strife, but aside from emotional anguish I have been…

Life Inside Out

Trust in the truth

Look in the Mirror. What do you see?

Because of social media you probably described what you look like and not who you really are on the inside…

I struggle with this EVERY day! Just this morning I was texting my friend complaining about my appearance,”Man I need to lose weight, I need to do better with what I eat, I wish I had a faster metabolism” etc etc etc…. How sad that this is how so many of us see ourselves..

This train of thought is so toxic! But how do we break what we have been fed our entire lives! How do we guarantee that our children will not grow up looking in the mirror and be blinded by societies view of them instead of who they really are!?

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” (Proverbs 31:30)

Shout out to the One Upstairs!!

Trust in the truth

Happy Friday y’all! Praise to God this morning.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

As far back as I can remember I have had insomnia waking up at least 10xs a night EVERY NIGHT! I know a lot of it had to do with the day in and day out stress I was under from the physical, mental, and emtional abuse I was enduring. (I was also convinced I as going bald because of the handfuls of hair I lost every day until I was saved and moved away) I also know it was and still is because I am an extremely light sleeper, part of my hypervigilance I’m sure. To say the least I’m pretty drained most of the time even with all the crossfitting and healthy eating to promote energy.

What Kind of Tree Are You?

As our faith grows in our Christian lives 🙂

Unshakable Hope

Some might be disappointed, but this is not one of those quizzes like I see posted on Facebook. (There actually is one of those quizzes with this same title, but I didn’t take it because I was afraid that the results would show that I was Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tree).
tree-onlyTen or twelve years ago, let’s just say eleven, Mary and I were shopping at Home Depot. After finishing our shopping in the store, we wandered out to the garden department to look for some small trees. It was November, and most of the plants were marked down because they were making room for Christmas trees.

Mary got hung up looking at wreathes and other boring items, so I cruised my wheelchair over to go look at trees. As it turned out, there were not many trees left, and I didn’t see anything I was interested in. Just when I was…
